Since posting this blog, someone did come up with the answer. At the time, unfortunately, I was too busy to report it to the blog. Now I am linking the people in St Andrew's Ward to Caverhill's Directory of 1859 and I have just found the entry. I can now alter George Beaty's occupation to "Secretary, Northern Railway", something that was in my notes all the time.The Old Census Scribe
